Bookstock, that midsummer literary extravaganza, returns to Woodstock VT the weekend of July 28 through 30. Get ready to hear and see and meet dozens of authors, including some local Upper Valley and Vermont writers such as:
Sabra Field and Julia Alvarez will be on hand to present Where Do They Go?, the children's book that is the product of their collaboration.
Chuck Gundersen, columnist (You Never Can Tell) for the Vermont Standard
Joni Cole, author of Good Naked, known to the Upper Valley for her writing workshops at the Writer's Center in White River Junction, VT, as well as at OSHER and the AVA Gallery in Lebanon NH.
Laura Foley, poet extraordinaire, whose many recent honors include having had her poem Gratitude List read aloud on air by Garrison Keillor.
Feed your stomach while you feed your head.
A nod to writing and food is National Geographic blogger Rebecca Rupp's How Carrots Won the War. Rupp will be presenting, naturally, at Bentley's Restaurant. ArtistTree in nearby Pomfret VT will hold the Anything Goes Poetry Slam. There's music, including a Bob Dylan (remember, he did win the Nobel Prize for Literature) Tribute Band.

I will be introducing attorney and author Steven Wise. He has devoted his life and law practice to advancing the legal rights of nonhuman animals. His work is the basis of the HBO film, Unlocking the Cage, screened at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival, and called a "courtroom thriller."
Presentations take place at various venues throughout the town of Woodstock. A mountainous second-hand book sale continues throughout the weekend on the Village Green. It's impossible to thread your way through the weekend without a schedule. You will find one along with presenter bios, a map, and advice on parking on Bookstock's website.
