Mike's Store is changing ownership after twenty-one years!
Have you heard? Mike’s Store & Deli in Hartland, VT is changing ownership after twenty-one years. Mike’s will join the family of Jake’s stores, a privately owned company that has also been serving the Upper Valley community for the same amount of time. Mike Pierce, president and “Bossman” of Mike’s Store & Deli, will be retiring from the daily operations of the store at the end of this year. After more than two decades, working side-by-side with the employees of his store, he is taking a well-deserved break and stepping back from the vigorous demands of the thriving business he started in 1997. The store opened as a small convenience store with just three employees, and within a couple of months, Mike was making sandwiches for his customers from a small deli setup at the front counter. From that simple start, Mike’s Store grew to over 20 employees, gaining a large reputation for serving fresh, homemade food with a high standard of customer service, and offering an extensive selection of craft beers and local VT products.
It is with deep appreciation for the loyal support he has long experienced from both customers and employees, that Mike made a special effort to transition the store to another local, community-focused company. Mike and Bruce Bergeron, the owner of Jake’s convenience stores, will work closely together to ensure continued delivery of the quality customer service and products for which the store is known. It is Bruce’s hope that the current staff will transition with the store and Mike is excited at the prospect that his dream of creating a store at the hub of the community will continue under the like-minded vision of Bruce’s company. Please join our staff in congratulating Mike as he looks forward to some restful days, and welcoming Bruce as he looks forward to serving Hartland for the next two decades. Their goal – same faces, same products, same great store!
